Mini-course The Leuven Chansonnier | Park Collegium | 23 June 2018

Sometimes fairy tales really do come true.
In 2015 a tiny perfect book of 15th-century French chansons landed in the lap of the Alamire Foundation in Leuven. With its top-collection of works by Ockeghem, Busnoys, Frye and others, the previously unknown Leuven Chansonnier has created a sensation in the musical world.
During a mini-course as part of AlbaNova 2018 you will have the chance to be among the first to work directly out of this exquisite little book. Our aim is to take its tiny pages and literally open them up to the world, performing the chansons on all manner ofinstruments and voices in suprising combinations.
You are certainly not limited to “authentic” early music instruments: saxophone, accordeon, ukelele, etc. – all are welcome for this celebration of a fantastic find. Surprise us!
The course will be led by Stratton Bull and Pieter De Moor, two members of Park Collegium, the house ensemble of the Alamire Foundation, based in the House of Polyphony in Leuven.
The results of the mini-course will form part of Park Collegium’s concert around the Leuven Chansonnier on Sunday 24 June. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to breathe new life into a “sleeping beauty”!More info & registrationCourse for composition and creation SoundMine | 3-7 July 2018SoundMine is still looking for young people and adults with a passion for composing and creating!

Summerschool Celebrations I Cappella Pratensis & Oltremontano | 20-26 August 2018

In 2018 Laus Polyphoniae (Flanders Festival Antwerp) is in a festive mood as it blows out 25 candles. Our annual polyphony Summerschool joins the party with ‘Celebrations’, a week-long course concentrating on a wide range of occasional works by some of the greatest polyphonists of the 15th and 16th centuries, including Dufay, Josquin, Isaac, Clemens non Papa and Lassus.

Stratton Bull, Andrew Hallock and Pieter Stas of Cappella Pratensis will lead the vocal sessions. In order to lend more splendour to these works, this year the singers will be joined by trombones and shawms, under the direction of Wim Becu of Oltremontano Antwerp. Guest teacher Valerie Horst will offer special sessions to unlock the art of reading mensural notation.
Again this year the singers’ course will be divided into 2 groups, one for conservatory students and starting professionals, and the other for advanced amateurs.
